WEEK ONE: ARTICLE MASHUP
CONCEPTUAL ARTICLE MASHUP
Architecture should be sustainable green spaces and works of art that we can move through and live in. Architects are in charge of the FORM of the built environment but Urban heat islands, poor air quality, lack of enjoyable urban community areas are all poor outcomes when green spaces aren’t incorporated into new developments and large scale building projects.
Modern architecture is an amalgamation of several factors that consider the geometry in formal elements, as well as the integration of modern materials to imitate or take inspiration from nature to solve human problems. Environmentally sustainable design can make a difference for the progress of world civilisation and we know our cities need more green spaces, as they’re good for our health, productivity, keeping cities cool and reducing pollution. Collaboration between art and the environment, incorporating urban green spaces could be the future of architecture.

Main Concept: Sustainability
'Through the human capacity to perceive time and space, architecture can be manipulated to cope with urban growth, congestion and the dehumanisation of the natural environment.

The theme of sustainability is embodied within the materials and elements of my tram station. The existing traffic and congestion on Anzac Pde is avoided and diverted by the elevated tram line and station. By doing so, the space above ground is occupied to cope with and avoid urban growth.

Time becomes a crucial element within the design, the naturally decomposing wood and plants creates a delayed, lethargic sense of time in comparison to the fast paced urban landscape.

The complete timber structure juxtaposes the concrete jungle and urban landscape, creating a natural and ethereal space, disjointed from the land below by supporting stairs. By elevating the platform, a lightweight, tranquil area with water and plant elements creates a sense of relaxation for this student busy locale.
