'A Time and a Place,' was my HSC body of work for visual arts. It explores the sentimental deterioration of objects over the course of time through mass production, captured through the transition from traditional to modern to contemporary still life layouts.
Machu Picchu is a 15th century Inca site built as an estate for the Inca emperor Pachacuti. The steep landscape provided spiritual significance for the Incans - surrounded by sun, mountain, rivers and the sun which were considered deities. The high quality hand crafted granite stones created terraces against the face of the mountain that were layered to drain the vast amount of rainfall - thus preventing landslides. Machu Picchu is an example of innovative and advanced 15th century architecture and engineering displayed by the Incas.
This image captures a high school experiment of growing bacteria in nutrient dense beef broth. The unknown pathogens were left to grow in flasks for a month and resulted in beautiful patterns and shapes ranging from lace like ripples to furry bean shaped growths.
